Hi, I'm Cian McDonnell, and alongside being a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, I'm Gold Standard's Founding Member / Managing Director!

A former student at Nenagh C.B.S (which is of course only down the road from our Home Clinic!), I later attended University College Dublin, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physiotherapy and Performance Science Degree.

Upon graduation, I continued to develop my professional skill-set whilst working in a number of respected private practices in Ireland, the United States and New Zealand. Possessing over 50,000 hours of first hand experience at this stage, I feel privileged to be able to say my past clients include the victorious All Blacks' Rugby World Cup winning team, the Otago Rugby squad, Irish and Scottish International Soccer teams, Limerick F.C, the Offaly Senior Hurling team, UCD and Mary I's Senior Hurling & Gaelic Football teams (most definitely not to forget pretty much every sports team in the North Tipperary area!).

While I've a huge interest in all Physiotherapy disciplines, I particularly enjoy providing Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy to the general public (i.e. treating various muscular, bone, tendon, ligament, joint, and cartilage injuries of theirs). I've a huge grá for treating Sports People / Sports Injuries too (where I place a particular emphasis on Exercise Prescription).

Possessing also a love of Performance Science, I feel honoured to have helped many athletes (including NZ Rugby great Joe Rokocoko & NFL star Raonall Smith of the Minnesota Vikings) realise their full potential.

Continuously striving to provide Gold Standard's ever-expanding patient-base with the most up-to-date of services, I've completed many Post-Graduate courses. As a result, I now hold qualifications such as a Masters in Sports Performance, NSCA CSCS Accreditation, ISPAS Video Analysis Accreditation, ISAK Accreditation, a Sports Traumatology Graduate Diploma, a Manual Concepts Certificate, a Langer Group Orthotic Prescription Certificate, a Western Acupuncture Certificate and an Instrumental Manual Therapy Certificate, amongst many more.

A life-time member of the Burgess GAA Club, I've a massive interest in all sports (including Football, Soccer, Rugby, Golf, Cycling, Swimming, and Athletics, amongst others), which really helps to bring a sporting touch to my role. In my time-off, I love to spend time with my wife, Ciara (who is also a Chartered Physio here at Gold Standard!) and our two young children, Ciadhla and Hugh, who definitely keep us on our toes!

If you'd ever like to get in touch about anything at all, please feel free to do so using the details provided below.

Slán go fóill,

Cian
